Ex-GWR 4073 Class 4-6-0 no.5029 'Nunney Castle' & Ex-LNER A4 Class 4-6-2 no.4492 'Dominion Of New Zealand' (aka 60019 Bittern) hauled the Euston - Taunton - Plymouth and return tour 'The Mayflower' (1Z37 & 1Z47). 4492 hauled the tour to Taunton where 5029 was then attached for the journey to Plymouth then detached again at Taunton on the return journey where 4492 would carry on solo to Euston. For this video I came to Dawlish, a place where I've wanted to film for some time. When I got there the sun was shining down then after being set up for a while the rain came down in force and stayed that way for about half an hour, thankfully about 5 minutes before the train was due the rain stopped, the clouds parted and the sun shone once more. So we see 5029 & 4492 running along the famous sea wall in full sun, 5029 was obviously doing most of the work and putting on a fine show as she whistles away before the tunnel mouth. For the return I went to Langstone Rock where we first see a Class 142 Pacer making its way out of Dawlish Warren station. Afterwards we see 5029 & 4492 emerging from the tunnel mouth at Dawlish, note how they both whistle at the same time through Dawlish Station. Streaming along the sea wall nicely they soon pass us both giving off whistles.
Apologies for the rather shaky panning on the long shots, something I need to work on although it didn't look that bad when I was filming.
Filmed on a Panasonic HDC-HS60 HD Camcorder
Enjoy
