The Tyseley Locomotive Works held their open day on Sunday 24th October. The event featured many things such as passenger rides on the demonstration line, turntable demonstrations and locomotive cavalcades. The "Star" attraction however was the rare outside appearance of GWR Star Class 4-6-0 no.4003 'Lode Star', visiting from the National Railway Museum in York and on her way to Swindon where she will be placed on display in 'STEAM' museum. The was also to be the first time a 'Star' had been at Tyseley since the 1950s.

After filming 34067 'Tangmere' on 'The Welshman' I headed east to Didcot to see BR Class A1 4-6-2 no.60163 'Tornado', recently re-painted into British Railways Brunswick Green and sporting BR's early emblem. She arrived at Didcot on June 9th and will be staying until June 17th although the 11th was the only day she would be in steam. This gave the opportunity to see three of the UK's newest steam locomotives in steam together, these were 60163, Fire Fly and the recently completed GWR Steam Railmotor no.93 which by the way looks and sounds superb.

We start off the video with Tornado trundling along the main demonstration line. We then take a look in and around the shed with Mogul no.5322 & Pannier no.3738 on display outside. We also see no.4079 'Pendennis Castle' which looks to be nearing completion & the frames of County Class no.1014 'County Of Glamorgan'. Moving back outside we see Tornado moving on shed to be displayed to allow us to get a good look at her in her smart new livery. Moving on we see no.93 making a loud departure from Burlescombe Station on the branch line then arriving back whilst at the same time Fire Fly arrives on the Broad Gauge line. Fire Fly is then see departing with no.93 following suit. After having a ride on both broad gauge and Railmotor (which I didn't film) we move to the turntable where Tornado is already half way round, so I couldn't really get a good spot to get her all in. She then gives a whistle and makes her way back to the yard to move onto the demonstration line. The last four shots show her running up and down the line with her two coach train.

- 6024 'King Edward I' on 'The Royal Oak' storming up Sapperton on the return (First video filmed in HD)(10/07/10)
- 44932 on 'The Cathedrals Express' departing Swindon on the return. A very rare shot as Black 5s are not often to be seen at Swindon (12/08/10)
- 37706 with the stock for 'The Weymouth Seaside Express' racing through Swindon, with two tone (14/08/10)
- 48151 'Gauge O Guild' on 'The Welsh Mountaineer' storming up the gradient through Pont-Y-Pant station on the outward and then climbing the steep gradient out of Blaenau Ffestiniog up to the tunnel (25/08/10)

Ex-GWR 4073 Class 'Castle' 4-6-0 no.5043 'Earl Of Mount Edgcumbe' hauled the Solihull - Newbury - Bristol - Swindon - Solihull tour 'The Collett Express' 1Z50 & 1Z53, formerly dubbed 'The Collett Double' it was due to be double headed with 5043 & 5029 'Nunney Castle', 5029 was then made unavailable and 4965 'Rood Ashton Hall' was to take her place but due to gauging problems she was made unavailable leaving 5043 to haul the tour by herself. After filming 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' I moved up onto the hill outside Crofton which gives a great view of the area. We start off by seeing a HST service passing by with the sun gleaming off its paintwork, after that the rain came and we got a thorough drenching, thankfully though the rain stopped and the sun shone in time for 5043 and she is seen making a fine sight racing along the Berks & Hants Line through Crofton, whistling away as she passes the Crofton Beam Engines. Probably one of the best shots I've ever done, what say ye YouTube?
